How to Play the Demo

The Farm & Feast demo is the whole pitch in miniature: grow food, cook it, serve it, get paid, restock, repeat. Steam published the demo on 11 Sep 2026 as a free download beside the upcoming 11 Nov 2026 game. This walkthrough is a single-session script. It assumes you already read Getting Started and know the HUD. If you have not planted anything yet, keep that page open in another tab.

Session goal

Finish one Closed morning and one Open evening with:

  • at least one watered tomato bed and one other crop (carrot or pepper is enough);
  • a menu of two or three dishes you can actually plate;
  • drinks in the fridge;
  • every seated table billed through Check Please;
  • a market basket that replaces what the kitchen just ate.

You are not trying to fill every locked menu slot. You are trying to leave the star rating no worse than you found it.

Phase 1 — Closed morning on the plots

Walk from the terracotta restaurant into the trees. Official shots of Day 2 at 10:30 show the restaurant Closed while the farmer waters a small tomato-and-carrot patch. That is the tempo. Expand only as far as you can water.

  1. Check the backpack and the chest so you know which seeds you already own.
  2. Plant tomatoes first. Tomato Soup and several pastas spend them.
  3. Add carrots or peppers if you have seed. The market sells Carrot Seed at $2.97.
  4. Water with the hose. Keep the tank topped using the water-pump minigame — hold Space in the red zone, release, pump again.
  5. Harvest anything ready. Do not stand in the field once the clock slides toward evening; chefs cannot cook dirt.

Pumpkins look excellent in the wide farm screenshot, but they are a luxury bed on a first demo day. Leave them for a second session unless the recipe book already demands them.

Phase 2 — Recipes, then Menu

Open Recipes from the hotbar. Tomato Soup is the teaching dish: tomato plus cream, with optional extras, described as a comforting soup that is smooth and gently tangy. The right page of the book groups Soups and Pastas, with question-mark tiles for dishes you have not unlocked. Learn names before you pin them.

Then open the Menu / clipboard. Today’s Menu on the left is the live board. Available Dishes in the centre show prices and stock counts from the demo UI:

  • Vegetable Soup $7.77
  • Borsh $9.03
  • Pho $10.46
  • Spaghetti $5.36
  • Rigatoni $6.14
  • Mac & Cheese $6.90
  • Fettucine $9.59
  • Lasagna $11.89
  • Ravioli $13.97
  • Margherita on the pizza row

Pin two soups or one soup plus one pasta if that matches the pantry. Press Open Restaurant only when drinks exist and the chefs have a path to the oven. The cooking guide explains extras and available counts in more depth; the dish tier list ranks those prices against kitchen friction.

Phase 3 — Open evening on the floor

Guests form a queue on the grass. Seat them. Tables are numbered 1–6 in every restaurant screenshot. Empty wood while people wait is wasted rating.

Take Order is a two-column sheet. Customer Orders list the dish plus extras (Rigatoni with garlic, basil, and thyme; Vegetable Soup with garlic and parsley). Main Dishes on the right show how many plates you can still fire; locked tiles are dishes not on tonight’s board. Drinks are a grid of cans and bottles at $10 each: Coke, soda, orange juice, lemon soda, hibiscus ice tea, mango ice tea, grape juice, carrot juice, tomato juice, and more. Confirm extras, tap Order Complete, and let the ticket strip spawn above the building.

Food goes to the chefs. You do not stand at the stove. Your job is drinks, dirty floors, and timing. The fridge minigame is a spinning selector — official art shows a strawberry bottle flying off the wheel onto a tray that already holds grape juice and a red can. Miss the bottle and you stall the table. Steam’s store text is the design intent: fill the tray, walk table to table, leave each glass with the right owner.

When plates return with a green check, watch for Check Please. The card terminal asks you to check out by card. One demo receipt totals $13.97 for Table 05. Finish the prompt; that is how cash and tips land. A packed shot even overlays a $9.14 tip and a 4.2-star comment. That is the evening working.

Spills appear as dark smudges on the tiled floor. Sweep them between drink runs. Dummy dino’s copy treats cleaning as part of the rhythm, not as optional flavour.

Phase 4 — Close, count, restock

When the badge flips to Closed (19:30 in several shots), stop chasing new seats. Bill whoever is still eating, then open the market. Tabs include Herbs, Dairy, Meat, Veggies, Grains, Drinks, Seeds, and Upgrade. Dairy is the trap: Cream $2.50, cheeses $8.00, butter $8.00, olive oil $7.00, all sold as x5. Noodles in one sample basket cost $16.00 for four. Pay from the Order Summary, not by vibes.

If the star rating dipped, do not “fix it” by adding five new dishes. Fix extras, drinks, and bills. Then park on the day planner so tomorrow’s Closed morning plants the same ingredients you just bought.

What the demo is for

Play the demo to learn the loop, not to finish a story. Steam has not published a demo-content checklist beyond the store description and screenshots. Locked menu slots, the Upgrade tab, the beach, and fishing (a Steam tag) are things you can poke after the pantry is stable. Report bugs through dummy dino’s Discord or the support email on the store page. Wishlist the full game so 11 Nov 2026 does not sneak past you.

If a system still feels foggy, branch out: controls for Space and gamepad, farming for the hose and pump, restaurant for stars and tips. The demo is small enough that one careful evening teaches more than a dozen unfocused restarts.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about the Farm & Feast demo and the 11 Nov 2026 Steam launch.

How long is a demo session?

Plan for one Closed morning plus one Open evening. Steam does not list a minute count; the clock badge is the real timer.

Should I open the restaurant immediately?

No. Farm and stock first. Opening with an empty pantry is how the star rating falls. Follow Phase 1 and Phase 2 on this page before you hit Open.

Does the demo save progress into the full game?

Steam lists Cloud saves for the full product. Dummy dino has not posted a public guarantee that demo saves import on 11 Nov 2026. Keep expectations modest and ask on Discord.

What should I buy after the first close?

Replace cream, noodles, drinks, and the seeds you actually planted. The market guide walks each tab.
